Last Time Alone [Mafuyu+Kei]

Mafuyu sighed, letting loose a discontented breath. Today would be the last day of personal time of just her and Kei, since the students attending GATE P were going to arrive tomorrow. She would have to make the best of it though; even if they were wandering the north hall, assigning dorm rooms and checking last minute things. Kei could easily be called her best and only friend, but she was happy with that, knowing that she could dedicate all her eternal time to him. The ghost smiled slightly, letting her usually scheming expression melt away only for a moment to spare a glance at her companion.

"Don't think so hard about the dorm assignments," she said dissmissively, waving a transparent hand in the air, the smile having changed into a smirk long ago. Kei looked so cute when he was concentrating. "We should just play eeny-meeny-miney-moe and get it over with--that would be much more... Fun to see, wouldn't you say?"

"Hmm...You may be right..." Kei replied, nose still on his clip board. He knew the halls so well that he could go anywhere blindfolded. "But I'm worried, you know, with all the races that are joining this year, who knows what rivalry there are. I don't want any murder in our school." Kei sighed and started scribbling names on the paper. The sheet was a printed version of the map. He wrote down names that would pop into his mind. Of course, he made sure to separate day from night and boys from girls. Who knows what kids can do these days.

He looked over his shoulder and saw Mafuyu a few feet behind him. She seem to be thinking of something really deep. He thought that it'd be better to not interrupt this psychopath. Maybe she could suddenly snap and take out a machine gun and shoot the living hell...or what's left of it... out of him. He rather not take that risk. He doesn't know if he can die in his state, and he doesn't want to know. He likes his life as it is, better not change it. When he went back on his pad, he realized that he was lost. This isn't supposed to be possible. They were the master of this establishment. They should know every corner of this school. He shrugged it off, thinking that he's just tired from all this thinking and that he just doesn't recognize his surroundings. He looked behind him again and couldn't find his friendly see through friend. He was getting worried. What if someone finds him a few days later coiled up in a ball, supper skinny due to the lack of food and with spider webs all over him. That would be the most embarrassing thing ever!

'Fufufu,' Mafuyu giggled, floating down the hallway without a care. 'Kei's too cute. Maybe, I can get him lost with me, then we could...' Leaving the thought for later development, Mafuyu found herself heading straight into a wall. Suddenly, she realized she had been moving without noticing Kei, and happened to be far ahead, or maybe even she had gone in a different direction. "Hmm, what kind of trouble could Kei get in alone... Especially in an unexplored part of the north hall..." The image of a skinny, webbed Kei came to mind, bringing a snort into her nose. She had better find his ASAP.

"Keiiii~..." she called, not bothering to turn corners in favor of just phasing through them. The light she eerily emitted just by being a ghost stretched creeping shadows on the walls and floors. Mafuyu cast an observing eye on the wall, feeling out of place. Wherever they were now, it wasn't somewhere normal or safe... "Kei!" she called once more, attempting to draw the demon out of hiding, or at least get a response.

Kei was in a moment of hysteria. He now started to think if he would have those cave-men beard with twigs in it. What if he forgot how to speak!? He tried to voice out something, but his fear restrained him from speaking. His eyes grew wider and his slit eyes went even smaller. He was now clutching his head and started to walk towards a corner, back already curving, until a voice he knew well was heard. "Kei!". That was a sign that god accepted him now. Now god accepted his soul and is going to help him. This voice, for a moment, sounded like it had angelic music coming with it. Hew as going to be saved! "MAFUYUUUUUUUUU!" He shouted. He was already running towards the providence of her voice. For him, it was as if everything went in slow motion. His running, his breathing, his hear beats. But when he felt her aura coming close, he calmed down. He doesn't want her to see this shameful childish side of him. That would make her not accept him as a friend anymore. He doesn't want that. Even though he still has Ellie, who left in vacation for a while, having one friend of less would break his non existing heart! He likes his female friends! What would he-

His chain of thoughts got stopped as he saw the glow of his ghostly friend getting brighter in the other side of the corner. He replaced some misplaced strands and adjusted his completely white uniform. Thye've just received it this morning and the will distribute it in a stall in near the entrance tomorrow. When she was in sight, he put on his serious yet prideful face as he walked towards her with closed eyes and said "Jeez, where were you? If I wouldn't have found you, I'd had to go t o your rescue. Saving you from these evil rats roaming behind these old walls." He laughed. When he laughs, he lowers his head, squints his eyes and covers his mouth with closed hand while looking away. People...well, mostly girls... say that his laughter is cute. He doesn't believe so. Cute isn't for men like him! He find this such a disgrace. But he'd never say this. Complaining about one's complex is boring and makes them seem weak, which he wasn't. "I suppose you don't know the way out..." He aid, taunting her into leading him the way. He knew she wouldn't say that she was lost. She lived here for more than 5 thousands of years. She knows this places better than he does. He anticipated her response, knowing that her reply would lead to escorting him back on track.

"Well," Mafuyu began, looking off to the side, before a thought struck her. Hadn't she always wanted to lead Kei off into an undescribed hallway with just her...? Restraining the evil giggle that attempted to tell Kei of her plans, Mafuyu coughed innocently and turned. "Of course, you silly demon! How could I, the great ghost of GATE P, Mafuyu, not know her way to get out? Just let me lead the way~!" And so, she began to tow Kei around various corners and creepy paintings, and down hallways that got darker and more sinister the farther they went.

'This is wierd,' she observed, scanning the area. 'This aura isn't anything like what the school normally is, even with my anger in its walls... This isn't any normal type of darkness...' Taking another float forward, she stopped, ignoring Kei's sudden shout at halting so suddenly. 'We should get out of here now...' Mafuyu turned around, expecting to see some familiar hallway, but all she was greeted with were cobwebs, dark corridors, and painfully chilling air, something she shouldn't have been able to feel, normally.

Turning back to the darker end of the hallway to hide her panicked expression from Kei, she disturbedly noted to herself, 'I don't know the way out...'

Kei was feeling uncertain. He could feel that Mafuyu was feeling unwell. Her floating pattern always seemed more spazzy when uncertain. At first, he thought that she was lost as well, but, at a better thought, her being lost isn't possible. It'd have to be a magical hallway that appears once every forever or two. But that e doubt. What are the odds? This is just an oooooold campus that's been abandoned for so many years. Mafuyu probably witnessed it's construction back then. Myabe she also knows the water system and stuff.

Kei walked closer to mafuyu, his breath almost crawling behind her neck just to annoy her (he was bored): "My my...I never thought that the ghost of GATE P would've get lost in th-" He stopped his sayings. Not because he got highfived on his face (a.k.a. got slapped), but because he felt this strangely familiar aura. He rubbed his cheek and walked the towards the spot where he feels the feeling getting stronger while ignoring ghost girl's rants. After a few minutes of walk, they ended up even more lost as the halls were completely pitch black. Apparently, the lights weren't installed in this section yet. Kei, with the small 5% of his remaining fire demon power, ignited a weak fire ball that could light up the hall just enough to see from a few feet afar. He started to miss his powers. He wouldn't have been lost if he still had them. He sighed and continued walking, looking behind him times to times to be sure that Mafuyu doesn't get lost again. He was surprised how silent it was. Maybe she's thinking. She's been doing that allot. It worried him. She's been looking at him with her absent minded thinking face sometimes. He just hopes that what she's thinking about him isn't too deranged.

Suddenly, He saw a door a the end of the hall. It was made of old wood with metal thuds over it. It had this medieval feeling to it. He rested his hand on the door, but gut burned. The door was as hot as fire.

It shoot him. He remembered now where he felt this aura before. It's the same as Hell! He couldn't believed it. There was a door that lead to his past world. But he knew there were no chances for him to go back there. He turned around to face Mafuyu. He hoped he was the only one seeing this.

"Kei." Mafuyu had stopped yelling at Kei's assumption, and had chosen to float next to him. "You feel it too, right? This door..." Mafuyu moved to touch it, but Kei grabbed her wrist. The ghost stared at it, wondering why Kei never minded the strange feeling he would definitely get from touching a ghost.

"Don't, Mafuyu. Don't touch the door." Kei's eyes were sincere, but Mafuyu brushed them away and phased through his grip.

"Trust me," Mafuyu began, ignoring Kei's hurt, almost worried face, and moved to touch the door, "I just need to check something." Slowly, almost like she was trying to build suspense, Mafuyu held her glowing hands to the large gate-like door, and after a moment's hesitance, pushed on it. Kei stayed back, eyes wide when he saw the doors begin to move. Mafuyu hid her grit teeth behind a smirk, and narrowed her eyes to apply more pressure, when suddenly she shrieked and fell back, holding her-now blackened-hands to her chest, blowing them to try to cool them down with a pained expression.

"MAFUYU!!" Kei shouted. He tried to hold her to stop her fall but his reflexes made him forget hat she was a ghost and she slipped right through him. He was in a state of shock. what is he suposed to do!? He doesn't know how to heal a little booboo, how can he treat a ghost!? He sat on his knees and talked to her, hoping that she could hear him. Either she was unconscious, or pretending to be, she wasn't replying. She can't have fainted just because of a burn. Wait, a burn? Since when can ghosts get wounded. He looked back at the door and a wave of heat came out of under the door. He then knew what was that door. It was a door that led to Hell. He was worried. Everytime a door opened, something bad was bound to happen. He had a baaaaad feeling. He looked back down at Mafuyu her hand seemed to be healign already. He looke dback at the door and saw it vanishing, but it didn't meant it was gone. He could still feel it.

"H-Hell," Mafuyu grit out, flexing her fingers. The ashen color was beginning to fade back to translucent white, though she could feel a pain that she hadn't felt in thousands of years. "That was Hell's Gate, Kei. I had thought that the original Headmaster was just joking around when he had said that he had made one... I didn't think he would be the type to do such a thing." Mafuyu coughed, waving her healed hands to get used to the new not-there skin. (Being a ghost got really wierd, she had to admit.) "It was trying to suck me in. It wanted my hating soul, to devour it and use it as food just like all other ghosts are fated..." The ghost looked up at her only friend with a fearful look. "The only time I've felt what Hell is really like was when I died. The only thing that kept me from dropping down there was my anger, hatred, and vengence..." She put her face in her hands. "I hate it. I hate it. Now that we've found this door, me, you, everyone... We're all doomed. This gate shouldn't ever be seen like this, just by accident."

Mafuyu stared deep into Kei's eyes, tearing her hands away from her face. "Something bad is happening. Something horrible..."

"...I promise it's going to be alright... I...I know the person in charge of this gate...Maybe...If I can persuade him into removing this door...." He said, still thinking things out. Without doubt he knew the man involved with this. Of course he could whip up a deal easily, but of course, such things need a great sacrifice. For him, to just get back in Hell was something he doesn't prefer to think about. He wouldn't want to do such thing, not after all that he's come to. The deal would to make him more of a demon, being a bad person, hurting people without any reasons in particular, wouldn't feel any remorse or pity to kill a person. Those things are not what he is. Although many demons had fell prey to these natural acts. He just hopes that it will never reach him and that it would never make him loose control. He's settled a nice peaceful life, now everything is going to deteriorated. Bad luck will happen one after an other, sadness and rage will appear more often and sometimes, death. He knows. Often did he see people killing one another, controlled by the demons that often slips through the door when no one knows and creates mayhem. He remembered assisting to such deteriorating, ha haven't done anything though, since he was still too young to participate back then.

He sighed and continued, still sitting next to her "Don't worry, I'll take care of it, no problem! It's not a big deal. But we'd need something to hid this hall from the other students. I don't want anyone wandering over here. "Can you stand?" he asked, getting up. He was ready to leave.

Mafuyu stared at Kei for another second, a brief imagination of what it was like for him, before she nodded and stood back up (though it was really more floating).

"We can hide the hall by putting a magic lock on it," Mafuyu informed, dredging upon her ancient knowledge of hexes and charms from when she was alive. Back before she had died, Mafuyu had been known as a great and genius witch, mastering all different kinds of spells and potions. Older spells also happened to be more potent back then, when power was only gained through strength--they were going to need an incredible hex to hide this hall... And a great power source. 'I can gather spiritual energy, which might be better than magic, but...'

After a moment of silence Mafuyu spoke, "It'll take a few days, but I'll be able to charge a hex charm with enough energy to at least hide the hall. I'm no professional sealer, but it'll create a good enough barrier to keep any curious students away." Mafuyu stuck her nose in the air, "I wasn't known as the Prodigious Witchling for nothing." Kei nodded, understanding the task Mafuyu had put herself to; now all he had to do was figure out a way to do something on his part.

"Is there something you need my assistance for?" Kei doesn't like when he is useless for something.

"Yeah," she began with serious eyes, "can I suck on your soul for a bit?"

"What effects will it have on me? I don't want to die or become emo." he said with a perturbed face.

"You, emo? I'll just give you a pastry and you'll be all better." Mafuyu was right of course--Kei could be dying, and a pastry would revive him.

"Okay then 8D" He said with such a bright smile, almost child like. He's never done that face before.

"It'll feel like I'm tickling your feet--like I was licking on them," Mafuyu stated, knowledgably holding her chin.

"..."

"...Hehe, Funny image. ...Ufufu. <3" Her face was slightly disturbing.
